Diane McCutcheon, President

Diane McCutcheon started her consulting company, Diane McCutcheon, Business Management Consulting Services, Inc. (DMBMCSI) in 1997.  Following years of finance and human resource administration for private practices, hospital out-patient, acute care, and homecare Diane knew there was a great need to assist physical therapist’s and other healthcare private practice owners with managing their businesses.  “Running a successful business is not usually part of the clinical curriculum”.  Diane has dedicated her career to healthcare administration with a special focus on physical and occupational therapy business operations.

Diane’s introduction to the rehab field began in the early 80’s when finding a job in her field of legal administration and stenography was not happening.  Offered a job as a front desk specialist was only supposed to be until she got back to her legal career but in short order she was hooked.  Front desk led to developing processes and then to billing, collections where she tested and implemented billing systems that did away with writing out claims and began the road to electronic billing. Diane further studied business administration, mergers and acquisitions, and fined tuned her skills as a process skills specialist.  Taking all her experience and never forgetting what it means “to sit in each chair” Diane has been able to take private practices on the verge of closing to highly successful businesses.

Diane served as the Vice President of Consolidated HealthCare where she managed the company’s accounts receivables (billing and collections) for private practices in over 8 states, rehab organizations and homecare, hospital and nursing homes contracts.  After successfully implementing a program and associated processes for all business to be billed out of one location and providing leadership and training for the billing and collections staff, Diane was offered and accepted an opportunity to become the Vice President of Human Resources where she excelled in meeting the needs of the employees and the company.

Diane has been successful in coaching owners, management and staff in areas of leadership, teamwork, and implementing training and development programs.   She has traveled throughout the USA providing hands on experience as well as leading various training sessions remotely.

Diane has given numerous presentations to organizations such as the APTA PPS, Combined Section, PTPN and MA PPSIG.  Diane has written handbooks and developed various forms and procedures for use in the business office and clinic.  Diane speaks nationally on a wide variety of subjects including: “How to Start Your Own Practice-The Administrative Side”, “Leadership”, “Managing Your Private Practice”,  “How to Assess Your Practice”, “Dealing With the Hidden Costs of HR, Operations and Hiring”, “Growing Your Practice in Tough Economic Times”, “Confrontation” and “Maximizing Your Technology” .  She has had many articles published in various professional magazines including Advance for Directors in Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy Practice Solutions and Impact.

Additionally, Diane served as a General Industry Certified OSHA trainer for 18 years and was a consultant with the RI Small Business Development Center for more than 5 years.  She is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, the Human Resource Management Association of Central MA and the Worcester Regional and Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce

Stacey Fitzsimmons, Director Account Matters

Over the years, Diane had many requests to provide billing and collection services to practice owners that chose not to do it in-house.  It was with encouragement from those clients that Diane and Stacey Fitzsimmons decided to open a billing company primarily focused on physical and occupational therapy.

Stacey joined Diane McCutcheon Business Management Consulting Services, Inc. as a business management consultant specializing in PT/OT billing and collection operations in 2004.   In 2009 Stacey partnered with Diane to open “Account Matters – A Different Kind of Billing Company”.  She brought a wealth of knowledge on managing the day to day operations in physical therapy clinics

Stacey’s experience includes business start-ups implementing new systems and operations that focus on efficiency and excellent customer service.  She has successfully trained and developed new staff to understand the inner workings of a clinic and how their position directly affects the patient experience and ultimate company bottom line.  She can easily spot deficiencies and works with the staff to correct and improve processes.  Her expertise in referral management has helped owners and staff to understand how to maximize billing and increase reimbursements.

Stacey shares her billing and collections expertise with staff assuring that compliance is met and that the most efficient billing processes are in place.  Her knowledge in using reports to manage the business is shared with clinic owners so they can quickly identify problems before they get out of hand

As the Director of Account Matters, Stacey handles all new accounts.  She works with all new clients to set up communication processes that will guarantee a smooth transition.  Stacey also makes herself available to conference with all clients on a monthly basis to go over their month end statistics.  Stacey is responsible for ensuring that all billing and collections are up to date and consistently being worked on.   Stacey’s success is measured by how healthy your accounts receivable is.
